Vision for Greystones emerges at public workshop

23rd July 2013

Help-Build-a-Better-GreystonesThere was a great turnout and huge energy at a public workshop on the Greystones Strategy on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. The event was run by the steering group; the Greystones and District Chamber of Commerce, Tidy Towns, Stephen Donnelly, Councillor Gráinne McLoughlin and myself.
Over two hours attendees participated in a set of informal and informative exercises designed to find out what people love about the town and what they’d like to see changed.

Issues raised include:

  • The need to open Greystones Harbour
  • The need for a new public park
  • The need to promote the town’s heritage
  • And ideas to stimulate job creation in the town

The steering committee will now work with the UK consultancy thinkingplace to develop the story of the town, which will then be available for further public input and consultation. If anyone would like the opportunity to contribute, please give my office a ring and ask for Elaine. You can get her on 01 2017300.
