Last week, myself, Stephen Donnelly and Grainne McLoughlin visited St. David’s school to talk to the transition year students to hear what they would like to see in their town as part of the the Greystones Strategy.
This workshop was the finishing touch to a major consultation on the Strategy that was held over the past few months. Top of the transition year student’s wishlist is a Centre for the Arts – a new space for creative expression, including dance, art, sculpture, photography, music – and one where they could catch live music and movies.
It was exciting to be met with so much positivity and so many ideas from the younger generation. It’s been clear throughout this consultation that people see Greystones as a brilliant place to live. That said, there are some specific amenities missing for various stakeholders. By listening to young people, the business community and families, we can create an inclusive plan for a town that accommodates all.
