Playground to be extended by the summer

4th May 2015

I’m delighted to be able to update you with some great news about the playground at Greystones South Beach. The playground is set to be extended this summer after my proposal for funding from the Greystones Municipal District was approved last week.

The works, which are due to be completed before the summer, will see the playground extended to include the grassy area next to the council building. In addition, three picnic benches will be provided.

But, whilst the extension is great news, I see it as just the start. The playground needs a complete refurbishment. Many parents have complained to me about the unsafe surface and poor equipment. I am talking to the Council about giving the entire playground a facelift and providing a more natural and fun space, similar to the new playground in Wicklow Town or Ashford. I would also love to see it be a more accessible playground – so all the children and families in our community can enjoy it.
